Exciting Events

So lots exciting going on in Jon's life.

Matt and I have chosen an apartment. It's a nice spacious apartment (970 sq ft) on11th and Pearl. I'm excited, it should be good. And rent is $720, water, sewer, garbage included, we pay electricity, phone, cable. So, not bad. Cheaper than I'm living right now. So Matt and I are going to bring out apps in today and reserve an apartment there. Then I have to let my landlady know I'll be leaving mid-august.

Yesterday I interviewed at Curtis Junior High in the University Place District. Before the interview started the principal said she had looked over my application materials and was impressed by my credentials and the caliber of my writing. I rocked the interview, I had a hard time not going on forever at every question they asked me. I was told I would be called Monday and told whether I had made it to stage two (the 20-minute lesson). Well, I got called back an hour and a half after the interview, and was asked to return Friday for the second stage, a 20 minute lesson on writing to 8th graders. The principal said that they had enjoyed talking to me, they had been very impressed by my interview, and thought I had a lot to offer the school. So, they wanted to bump me up in the process and get me on the second stage soon. This sounds pretty promising to me.

I have another interview earlier friday with Bethel School district in which I have to teach a 15 minute lesson. So, I'm going to use that lesson to help prepare me for Curtis, since Curtis seems pretty interested in me.

I am knee-deep in my thesis, and I think I have some ideas to organize my thoughts. I need to do some massive work on it this weekend though.

Last night I finished off beer club at E9. They had no XL shirts, so I got an XXL large. It's HUGE.

And finally, this weekend i am helping organize an adventure games event with my supervisor (who is the coolest). A bunch of M.A.T. folks are coming over to Vashon and we are going to play and teach Adventure-based activities. I'm excited, it should be good. I want to plan a bit for that and have some ideas ready to do on the spot.
